NEWBIES :0)

Ooooo LOTS has happened since I last spoke!! Our new family member has arrived, safe and sound - Charlie Dog!
Rescued all the way from sunny Spain, Charlie is now happy (but chilly) in his new home! His confidence is growing everyday and although is obvious from some of his reactions to certain situations that Charlie has been badly treated at some point in his short little life, he has a VERY warm and loving personality. Hes an amazing final addition to our family!
Welcome to the mad house Charlie dog ;) XX

From our newbie family member to newbie shapes at The WoodBarn! Yeahhhh we have finally have found time to add some looooong awaited new shapes :) We are planning to get these ready to show you on Monday - so if you are stuck at what to do, on what promises to be a wet bank holiday monday (Typical) pop over to The WoodBarn and have a browse. . . .

Our  Freestanding Tractor we added this week is the start of many more boys shapes. We feel we've been neglecting the boys with a lack of boys stuff - disgraceful behavior! Boys rock, they deserve MDF shapes too! We must put this right immediately!!

See you all on Monday, stay dry and have a lovely bank holiday weekend.

Caroline and Sean :)

New Arrival. . . .

Our little(ish) family is growing :0). . . . This is Charlie. . . .

Charlie is currently in Spain but over the weekend he will travel by car to the UK and by Monday evening he should be with us in his forever home.
Charlie is a rescue dog, and while living on the streets, was lucky enough to be found by 'Spanish Stray Dogs' a non-profit organisation commited to finding homes for the dogs living in Los barrios Killing Station. They took him in, fed, him, cared for him and searched for a home for him. The volunteers at the shelter are amazing and their work is tireless.

I would never have known about their work though if it hadnt been for my facebook friend Natalie from Precious Parcels
http://www.preciousparcels.co.uk/
Natalie gave up her own free time to fly out to Los Barrios and volunteer at the shelter. Natalie is one of a kind, she has a heart of gold, is a real trooper and an inspiration. She loved every second of voluteering and of course shared her story on facebook. It was this story that completely captivated me - and whilst completely inspired by Natalies story, who was, by now adopting her very own Spanish four legged friend, Maggi, Charlie found me.
I say 'found me' because I wasnt looking for a dog, even though I wanted to help then all by sharing their photos on facebook to raise awareness etc, it never occurred to me that one would come and live with us - until I saw Charlie! Something about him 'spoke' to me. . . . I knew!!  . . . . I knew I must flutter my eyelids at Sean if I was to get my Charlie!!. . . .  And flutter I did, again and again!! It worked - Hurrah!! And now here we are just 3 sleeps away from changing Charlies life and ours for the better. XX

Please please please follow the link and pop over to Spanish stray dogs, Im not asking you all to adopt (although that would be awesome!!), but who knows by sharing their photos you could play a big part in finding a forever home!

Monday cant come around quick enough for us, I have just heard that Charlie has been collected from the shelter and will start his long journey home either tonight or first thing in the morning!! Super excited, super emotional!! XX

**********

Sean used to live in Spain and has seen first hand the apaling way the Spanish can treat their animals, it was a real an eye opener for him! Please help if you can :) As a very famous supermarket will tell you - 'Every little helps' ;) XX

Meet Team WoodBarn!

Team Wood Barn. . . . is made up of the 5 members of the Wisby Family! All of whom, despite some being quite young (Child labour rocks lol) all play their own part and help keep The Wood Barn 'wheels in motion'!

**********

Firstly - Sean and Caroline. . . . Sean is the master of MDF!! These days he is rarely spotted outside of The Barn although he can be tempted out with jaffa cakes or cheesecake ;)
. . . . I (Caroline) can be found in the office and if Im not in there you will definitely find me in the Post Office!! Oh how the people behind me in the queue LOVE me!! #not!!

This was taken on our 2nd wedding aniversary in December last year, we are right at the top of York Minster (for anyone who has ever climbed to the top of the Minster will know exactly what we were going through on this picture!!)

Charlie, aged 11. Always smiling. XX

Toby, aged 9. Affectionately known as 'Crazy Tobes'. XX

Charlie and Toby are two of the most important members of the Team. Everyday (mostly without moaning, and sometimes without sweets) they help me carry all the parcels to the Post Office. There are always too many for me to manage on my own so come rain or shine they're a massive help - and great company too. Love you boys. XX

Poppy is an amazing help if she sleeps in the afternoon. . . . only joking . . . . ;)

Last but ofcourse not least, Little Poppy, aged 3 and a half. Makes us all laugh out loud everyday, one of lifes characters and a master of manipulation! (Lots of practice on daddy!!)

Bless her, she is happy and content, filling up the post office bags, sorting out shapes and letters and occasionally drawing on things she shouldn't!

**********

And there you have us, the strange looking bunch who run The Wood Barn!!

Thank you for reading :) . . . . we're expecting a brand new arrival in a few days (not in that way- before my Mum gets the wrong idea and starts knitting again!!) He is very special, has had a rubbish start in life and is coming a very long way to live with us in his forever home. I think he deserves a blog post all of his own . . . . back tomorrow ;) XX

The other permanent (almost!) fixture  in The Barn is Sean. He opted out of the photograph, but can be found everyday knee deep in saw dust cutting a huge variation of shapes.

I on the other hand (Caroline), can be found behind my desk emailing, invoicing, dispatching, drawing up new designs and generally juggling work and family life! . . . I love it! We both thrive on being busy:-)
